Such flags are also to be found in Orkney and Shetland and the Hebrides and such-like Nordic-rich parts of the UK.<br /><br />St David's flag (a fairly new invention) follows not the Nordic pattern but instead the pattern of the St George's flag of England, with the crux centred. It is probably derived from the St Piran's flag of Cornwall, white cross on black.<br /><br />Those English counties without recognised flags have recently taken to acquiring them, and they, too, frequently employ the centred-crux cross.
