Another blast from the Hawaii 5-O past... Kids today probably wouldn't believe it - a state-of-the-art at the time telephone trace - one of those "keep the guy on the line long enough!" calls - and they're at the phone company exchange physically tracing the lines - the actual lines - through the switchboards and the tangle of cables.
And nowadays your phone knows the incoming number before it rings...
Oh, the lost plot devices!
