Bees and Butterflies

I took these today on my way home. I can't remember when we've had flowers - and bees and butterflies! - out this late. The white guy is a Cabbage White, but the orange one is a puzzle. I know a lot of things he's not, but not what he is. Anyone out there know?

Apparently she is a Pearl Crescent. Thanks, Language Czarina! (and check out her blog)
Oct 25: Or maybe an Orange Crescent - GrrrlScientist featured this photo on her blog and there are some guesses there.

  1. My best guess is that "he" may be a "she"--specifically, a female Pearly Crescentspot, a small fritillary that hangs around meadows from the Atlantic coast to eastern California. Nice photos!
