a considerable disappointment

Spam comments are funny things. Some of them are blatant ads, nothing but. Some of them are that slightly randomized text - you know what I mean, the same irrelevant content run through a thesaurus over and over. Some of it starts out by saying what a wonderful post it is, how relevant to their interests and how full of helpful information. All of it is there for the link (NFL jerseys, louis vitton knockoffs, mortgage rates today, whatever).

But I've gotten this one a couple of times now. I can't quite figure out why this approach is thought likely to make me leave the comment up. It's even funnier because the posts it's been on have been either silliness (like Jumble words) or celebratory (like Maryland's gay marriage law).
The next time I read a blog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as considerably as this 1. I mean, I know it was my choice to read, but I essentially thought youd have some thing interesting to say. All I hear is often a bunch of whining about some thing that you could fix for those who werent too busy looking for attention. NFL Authentic Jerseys.
Do they think I'll be worried I'm deleting criticism because I'm scared of it? Well, I'm not.

Maybe they think that if the comment is critical, it will be so different from most other spam comments that you will think it's legitimate. But still, don't they expect you to check the URL?

Regardless of whether a spam blog comment is favorable or otherwise, the dead giveaway is its non-specificity, combined with a hyperlink or URL leading to a website for a business. As proprietor of your blog, you're entitled to remove any comment you wish, but most especially those who parasitize your blog without your permission in pursuit of free advertising for a product you don't support. Heck, I don't even link here to the URLs for a couple of my books (tempted though I am)!

I don't have any qualms about not posting the dozens of spam comments I get (daily). I was just wondering about the psychology of one that insults the blog owner.

I've seen that one dozens of times -- if not more -- when browsing my spam queue (which I hardly ever do).

It's very rare that I see spam on my blog. Every blogging platform has its strengths and weaknesses, but one advantage of Wordpress is that the built-in spam filter (Akismet) is very good at what it does.

Of course there's the possibility of legitimate comments being flagged as spam (which has happened to me occasionally on other people's blogs), but every now and then I scan my spam queue for legitimate comments and I have never seen one. If someone has difficulty posting a comment, they can always email me.
