We're gonna need a bigger boat

Or at least a different one.

I should have thought of this before, but, what can I say? Anyway, I was listening to the news, and Tara Gadomski was talking about the Amish. "They don't believe in cars," she said, "or phones or helicopters..."

Well, I mean. Of course they do. They see them all the time.

What they don't believe in is using them. They don't believe they are helpful, or profitable, or moral, or whatever the exact shade of their rejection is. But they don't think the things don't exist.

It must be that use of "don't believe in" that makes religious people, from the Pope on down, claim that atheists "reject" or "fear" or "are angry at" God.

Maybe we need to find another phrase.
