The Week in Entertainment

Film: The Prestige - better than I expected, this is a movie that makes you pay attention, as we get a story told in layers and it's crucial to know who's POV we're in at the moment. David Bowie's Tesla was odd and commanding, and the rest of the cast was good, too - although once again, Hugh Jackman's wife dies (not a spoiler, it's almost the first thing that happens.) (spoiler-the actual first thing we see - very important!)

DVD: The Road Home - what a lovely film. Zhong Yimao is an artist with the camera, and this is one of his most lyrical films.

TV: Heroes ... you know what? I adore Hiro. He gets such a kick out of every one of his new powers. "I have a sword," he says, adorably. And then he takes it so seriously when he fails to save even scary evil gamblers ... On the other hand, I am really tired of Niki/ikiN and her problems. Really, really tired. I kinda hope she's dead. Hiro is definitely the reason to watch this show. Also, Veronica Mars. Not regretting the decision to go with her instead of House...

Read: Working on The Victim's Name - Nobody - interesting for its look at late 1990's Russia, but a slower read than it would have been in English. Still, I enjoyed it very much.
