Monday Science Links
Mike the Mad Biologist suggested that non-science bloggers (such as me) post five science links a week (read him to see why). Sounds good to me, so here's installment one:
- Mixing Memory posts The Blues in Russian - on whether Russians (who have no single word for 'blue' but instead two words, one 'dark blue' and one 'light blue') can discriminate between the colors better than English speakers.
- Mark Liberman at Language Log posts on Hot Dryden-on-Jonson Action - the source of the ban on clause-final prepositions.
- Phil Plait at Bad Astronomy posts on New Horizons at Jupiter - what the New Horizons probe saw as it slingshotted around Jupiter on its way to Pluto
- Darren Naish at Tetrapod Zoology posts on the world of sheep - much more interesting than it might sound
- Martin Rundkvist at Aardvarchaeology posts on the Kaga Brooch, a bronze 6th century find from Östergötland, and quite lovely
