Ambulance drivers...

A guy's been shot, and Hawaii 5-0 comes up to the scene. The victim is still alive.

"How is he?" McGarrett asks.

"Bad," says the ambulance guy.

"How bad?"

"Two to one he won't make it to the hospital."

And that's because all they're going to do is put a blanket over him and shove him in the ambulance - which is essentially a white station wagon. Period.

What we take for granted these days - a fully equipped paramedic's van with on-the-spot emergency care - non-existent. Not even an IV...

How things have changed... and for the better, most of the time.
