Mysterious thrush and others

The last couple of mornings it was sounds that drew me. First, yesterday, there was the cacophony of mockingbirds diving and tumbling over the grass. When they worked out their spots, they settled into the walk, flash the wings, and walk some more behavior. This isn't the best picture I ever took, but it does show the display.

Then there was the knocking of a pileated woodpecker - the first one I've seen around here. He was so frustrating: he kept circling around and around the forks in the trunks, then he'd pause and hammer away but not where I could get a decent picture, and then he flew away. Argh. And he made me almost late for work! This is a horrible picture, but you can the red at least...

The next morning began with a virtuoso mockingbird who posed on top of a pine tree for me; he's sure weird looking, but he knew upwards of twenty songs.

And then, down by the creek was what I'm sure is a thrush, but I'm puzzled as to what kind. I'd guess song thrush, though the breast seems more mottled than spotted... At any rate, he was a prodigiously beautiful singer once he finished pluming himself and got settled in a tree.
