The Week in Entertainment
DVD: Hogfather! Yes, a fabulous British made-for-tv 2-part movie, running nearly 3 hours and pretty near flawless. Of course a lot had to be cut (primarily Death of Rats, who gets one scene, most of the Raven, a lot of Death's Hogwatch stuff - the King and the Beggar scene, and some of his musings - Susan's real detective work, and the Librarian!!) But what was kept was done to perfection, and the spirit of Hogwatch... er, the book ... was intact. If you can watch Region 2 DVDs I recommend this whole-heartedly. Also some Hawaii 5-O, which is reminding me of how different my childhood was from now (and yes: I watched McGarrett, Dano, Chin Ho, and Kono the first time around) - things like tracing calls, paramedics vs. ambulance drivers - medical stuff in general, the constant search for phones, the "red Chinese" scare, and (of course) Miranda... though the show is post-Miranda, nonetheless in the first two, two and half seasons, I haven't heard it read yet.
TV: Dr Who, of course. I can't wait for Torchwood to start, nor House and Heroes for that matter.
Read: Finished up Santa-Khryakus, then read The Ever-Running Man, the latest Sharon McCone by Marcia Muller - an excellent entry - and Hard Row to Hoe, the latest Deborah Knott by Margaret Maron, also very good, and just got started on Saturnalia
