Cooper's Hawk
Early in the morning - well, no earlier than usual, but these days that's just after dawn - a dove burst off a tree and a Cooper's Hawk landed on the branch. It was very gray still, and he didn't stay very long. The pictures aren't very good, therefore, and Paint Shopped quite a bit to make the details clear... well, clearer. But here he is - the first raptor I've seen in the park - at least, the first one perching.

Nice.
We had some crows mobbing a red-tail in a strip mall parking lot today, which was unusually cool for the 14 Mile/John R area. Or for the whole area code, come to think of it.
