Monday Science Links
This week's science:
- Sean at Cosmic Variance on dark matter - if nothing else, check out that motivational poster. Sweet.
- On a more depressing note, Jennifer at The Infinite Sphere looks at water wars in the South: "So what is more important, continuing to encourage sprawl in Atlanta? The fishery industry in Florida? Alabama's economic needs? Endangered aquatic life? How does conservation and innovation fit into this equation? With politics involved, I suspect there will be no easy answer to this very serious problem."
- On to cheerier science: Pamela at Star Stryder on backyard astrophysics, microlensing, and collaborative work. Interesting personalities abound.
- Stephen at Quintessence of Dust looks at the (human-guided) evolution of corn from its wild ancestor, teosinte, a Mexican grass that looks nothing like its domesticated descendant .
- Mo at Neurophilosophy looks at Dr Alzheimer's first case (yes, that Dr Alzheimer). Fascinating if a bit depressing.
