Say what you like but not where you like

Look, the thing to bear in mind about the civil verdict against the loathsome Phelps clan and their so-called church is this:

Your right to freedom of speech is not accompanied by any right to go wherever you want to go in order to speak. If you break into your neighbors' house to harangue them about, oh, anything, your right to free speech will not stop the cops from arresting you for trespassing.

Phelps and his kin/congregation do indeed have the right to say what they say, but they don't have the right to gatecrash a stranger's funeral. It's really that simple.
