ACTFL 2007 VII: Wrap up - flowers, La Villita, Marriott, and Gompers
This one took a while to get to ... bits and pieces, odds and ends, from the trip.

La Villita is an old town that's essentially a shopping center for tourists - crafts of all kinds, metal-work and ceramics and jewelry.

Here's the hotel we stayed at, the Marriott Riverwalk - and if you share rooms and get a good conference rate it is within the government per diem... otherwise, not hardly! Which, to be frank, makes their charging for internet access a bit, well, cheap. I guess mostly they have guests who aren't paying personally, but a lot of places that cost much less give you wireless for nothing nowadays!
Here are the pair of Marriotts, the Riverwalk (tall and straight) and River Center (stepped).
Down the street from the Marriott and across from the conference center is this statue in honor of Samuel Gompers, founder of the AFL:
