It's March - but is it really spring? Sure it was in the 60s today, but just last week we had snow, and by the weekend? Who knows? The birds are somewhat confused as well. |

The seagulls, always here, are wild in the morning, not caring how close they are to anyone |
A cardinal makes an appearance |
Many more than four and twenty blackbirds leave their tree at dawn |
A pair of house finches |
A mockingbird issues his clarion calls - a dozen or more -
and moments later squares off with another - they threaten but end up not quite in combat. |
Doves are year-long residents, and now they are pairing off. |
And the winter visitors, the juncos, are still here. Maybe they've got more sense than the others? |
The geese back at the pond. |
A pair of mallards |
And robins are here (they're really here all the time, but we don't see many in the winter) |
You know, it's not right to see robins and juncos on the same day. |
Several robins |
This one's all cold and fluffed - not a happy redbreast at all. |
And the redwings are here, too. |
They're on their respective positions, staking their claims to the prime real estate. Spring? Seems to be... |
1 Comments:
Flocks of robins are one of the first true harbingers of spring!
