Fragments

I rewatched Fragments (the next-to-last episode of Torchwood) again Thursday and it struck me: Owen and Tosh's stories are from their points of view, but Ianto's wasn't, except for the last shot of him walking away from Jack. It's not just that we already knew why he wanted to join Torchwood Cardiff so badly so they didn't have to retell that. It's that it's all from Jack's point of view - all Jack reacting to Ianto. It's Jack fighting the Weevil and then someone joining in, who proves to be Ianto; Jack coming out of the Hub and running into Ianto; Jack driving and barking orders and then coming upon Ianto... Jack's reactions, not Ianto's story.

I'm not entirely sure what it means (and if they kill Ianto tonight I will never forgive them). But it was definitely interesting to see the differences.
