Regional Final

Okay, here we go: Round of Eight. Tennessee against Texas A&M. (post will be updated till the game ends)

All right! Bobbitt gets the ball away and UT starts on top. Some nice defensive rebounding, and Parker and Hornbuckle both shooting well. The Aggies haven't seen anyone as short as Bobbitt - she's getting the ball away from them pretty easily - they'd better adjust (speaking impartially). 6-2 after four minutes.

Franklin drops a three. 6-5. Starks drops one in, but answered right away by Hornbuckle. 8-8 after five minutes.

What? Parker called for charging! The basket didn't count. Franklin another three. Buchanan tips the ball away from Anosike, then Franklin misses. Then Parker misses. Anosike gets the rebound, and then Hornbuckle drops a three, they get the ball away from the Aggies again and Parker has an easy bucket. 13-11 after eight minutes.

Starks gets her own rebound and the bucket. Hornbuckle then gets the ball around to Parker for two. Reado gets two, then Parker answers. 17-15 after eleven minutes.

Parker gets the rebound and drops in a beautiful jumper. 19-15, but Starks answers with a three. 19-18 after twelve, and Parker hits an incredible spin and step-back. 21-18. Bobbitt grabs the ball and gets it to Parker for a runaway shot. 23-18 after 14 minutes.

Franklin gets another three, 23-21. And a time out.

Parker then gets her own rebound and drops it. Auguste forces the turnover and Parker glides down for two more. 27-21 after 16 minutes.

Hornbuckle fouled, hard, down on the floor. She gets back up and then after some hard play Gant forces a turnover. Parker steals the ball from Starks but there's an immediate time out as Parker is hurting, bad. She's out for the moment, in pain - she's dislocated her shoulder. Very bad news. 3:50 to go in the half.

Hornbuckle steps up and drops one for two. Gant answers. Buchanan is charged, and the Aggies take it back. Parker's back - she looks okay. They got her shoulder back in - and Parker checks back in. One minute and fourteen seconds of action missed - props to Jenny Moshak (the trainer)!

Some back-and-forth, and Starks drops in another three. Now 29-27. Bjorklund misses for three.

29-27 as the shot clock runs down. Starks misses. Parker's arm is hurting again, but 15 seconds yet to go. Starks misses again, Micheaux gets the rebound, Franklin misses, 2.5 seconds. Reado gets the ball but in-and-out and still 29-27 when the whistle blows.

Half time, and Parker is in doubt.


Parker is still in the locker room, and for the moment Fuller is on the floor. Back and forth, misses all around. Bobbitt taking it down after Anosike gets it away. No score after two minutes.

Reado ties it up, Hornbuckle misses, Micheaux with the rebound. Atunrase misses, more back and forth as they keep taking the ball from each other. Gant is out, by the way. Micheaux hits two. 29-31 after four minutes. (Yes, I'm putting UT's score first)

Hornbuckle misses three. Starks fouls. Time out.

Anosike misses and Gant (who's back) gets the rebound. Atunrase misses three, and Starks rebounds, misses, Auguste gets the rebound.

Bjorklund drops two. 31-31 after six minutes. Parker walks back on, shoulder in a brace. Gant misses, UT ball. Bobbitt drives down court and Starks fouls her.

Atunrase loses the ball and Starks grabs it but a violation. Still tied, 31-31.

Atunrase gets it, Franklin misses but Gant rebounds and gets two. Bobbitt instantly answers with THREE. 34-33 after eight.

Starks answers and Anosike instantly answers. 36 all.

Starks misses and Gant rebounds - they do that well, dammit. Atunrase loses it and it'll be UT ball when we come back - and Parker does, too - tied after nine and a half minutes.

Bobbitt misses, Micheaux with the rebound. Scrambling and our first free throw as Anosike fouls Franklin. She makes both. 36-38 after ten and half.

Hornbuckle gets the rebound after Starks misses. Starks fouls and goes out with 4. Parker misses and Auguste gets the rebound. Some pushing around and it's A&M ball.

Action under the basket and Parker fouls Gant, who makes both. 36-40 after twelve minutes.

Anosike misses, and Gant gets it. Anosike strips it, Parker drives down, lays up and is fouled by Atunrase. Parker shoots UT's first free throws and makes one. 40-37 after thirteen minutes.

Hornbuckle steals, Parker misses, Anosike the rebound, Gant steals it and scores. 42-37.

Parker gets two. Starks misses, Reado turns it over on the rebound. 42-39 after fifteen.

Franklin fouls Bobbitt, who makes both. 41-42

Auguste gets the ball from Starks. Hornbuckle misses, then blocks Franklin, who'll shoot 1-and-1, but misses!

Tennessee back down court. Anosike rattles one out, and Parker is fouled. 41-42 with just 3:44 to play.

Parker makes one, then the other. 43-42.

Gant misses - thanks Anosike - and Parker takes it. Micheaux fouls Parker with 2:55 to play. Parker misses the first but makes the second. 44-42. Time out on the floor.

Starks gets an opening but misses. UT takes it back down the court. Micheaux fouls Parker again and hits one. 45-42 with two minutes to go.

Atunrase misses and Parker grabs it off the floor. Working the clock, Hornbuckle brings the ball down, misses, Micheaux grabs it and Starks runs down but is fouled by Bobbitt. Starks gets one (UT isn't in the penalty yet, so one's all she can shoot). 45-43 with 1:18 to play.

Hornbuckle brings it down the court, passes to Bobbitt, who passes to Parker who passes to Hornbuckle who hits for three!!!

Atunrase makes two, but it's 48-45 with just 30.1 to play.

Franklin loses the ball to Hornbuckle and fouls her as she does. Hornbuckle shoots two, makes both! 50-45 with 29.6 to play. Five point lead.

Gant inbounds it and then Starks under the basket misses and Hornbuckle grabs it. Starks fouls Bobbitt and she hits both free shots. 52-45 and Parker takes it away from Gant and is fouled. 3.6 to play and Parker misses the first shot, but makes the second. 53-45 and UT wins!

The Lady Vols are going back to the Final Four! w00t!
