Marina Muscovies

Muscovy ducks also hang out at the lakeside. These huge, powerful ducks are the only domestic ones who aren't some form of mallards, and they look it. Especially noticeable is the bare red skin and caruncles around the face - which in some cases is just some elegant trim around dark skin and in others covers the whole head. They're nearly twice the size of mallards, with strong, clawed feet and pointy beaks. The pure breed is dark - black with green highlights - but many of those who hang around marinas are mongrels (like the mallards), with a lot of the white that domestic breeding brings out.
