It just keeps coming

McCain at GOP conventionI confess I couldn't bear to watch McCain (I [gasp!] read it), so I didn't see the backdrop he spoke against.

But appareantly it was a middle school in California - and one that isn't happy about being politicized, for that matter.

But it gets better. The school is named after Walter Reed. Yeah. It begins to look like the McCain campaign wanted a picture of Walter Reed Army Medical Center, but screwed up and got the wrong picture.

Now that's not certain. It's possible the McCain campaign wanted some anonymous school in California to be behind their man at his moment of triumph. But how likely is that? The other story is much more plausible.

But of course, that means that, for the McCain campaign, wounded vets are a backdrop - Walter Reed Medical Centersomething to be exploited - even while they aren't important enough for anyone not to notice the difference between these two buildings. While Obama spoke from a set that evoked the Enlightenment roots of our nation (compare the Roman architecture all over the District of Columbia), McCain intended to use wounded vets ... and he couldn't even get it right.

Ahem, well, speaking as a native of the actual WRAMC shown above (hey, we got the employee discount), I'm half tempted to be offended. But in the spirit of bipartisanship, I will instead just blow soft drinks through my nose in wonderment.

Really. If you're trying to burn through the primary money before you get a pile of cash for the general election, couldn't you use some of it to buy a clue?
