The Week in Entertainment

DVD: Futurama: The Beast With a Billion Backs. "Thou shalt love the tentacle!" "Well, at least we don't have to love one another." Some more Sailor Moon Stars - and I forgive the Sailor Scouts for thinking Haruka was a guy, considering what those three guys look like...

TV: Fringe. I will probably give it a second, even third, shot, though I'm not entirely convinced they have a coherent plan - "the pattern" sounds ridiculous, and their "scientist" is not just on one fringe, he's on them all at the same time, which will mean they go anywhere and do anything, which makes it so convenient it's annoying. Also, they're a bit gross with the effects (I could have done without the copilot's face falling off). Plus, I really don't like Olivia Dunham, the main character; yes, I get that her boyfriend is dying, but still, she's a self-centered bitch who does exactly what she complains about in her task-force boss, which is to drag her personal feelings into the job and threaten to use privileged information to coerce assistance from the younger Bishop. Not to mention, who searches on "infection"? Plus - there's the damnable Fox justification of torture... But I did like the cow. And there was a lengthy preview of The Day the Earth Stood Still remake. It actually looks pretty good, though considerably different from the original.

Read: The Flight of Peter Fromm (more on that tomorrow).
