The Week in Entertainment
DVD: All the extras on Torchwood Season Two. More, please?
TV: Pushing Daisies - the dead clowns in the car, too funny. It still makes me laugh (is that wrong?) And Vivian in the Pie Hole, too sad. But I hope Olive doesn't stay in that nunnery very long. Eleventh Hour - I know the Brit version only lasted four eps, but two were better than this one. Also, I wasn't fond of the whiff of "the cops should be able to do anything they need to", but maybe that won't be a permanent thing. So I'll give it another shot. Sanctuary - Oh, damn. Christopher Heyerdahl is in the credits. Nothing against him, but I don't care for his character - I mean the idea of him, obviously we aren't supposed to care for him. But really, the ex-husband on the other side is such a tired trope, even if this time around he's not just a jerk, but a ghoul. (Fortunately, he wasn't in the episode, so maybe he won't be around much.) It was pretty entertaining, once again. Nice that someone pointed out that after 1200 years the women wouldn't speak English; too bad they didn't mention the fabulous hair and the great teeth...
Read: Oscar Wilde and the Death of No Importance, which was quite good. I must get the next one. The Pyramid by Henning Mankell. A bit uneven (a collection of shorts), but good - and who was expecting more Wallander? (Though it is from 1999, it's just been translated into English...) The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - and it is much better than the movie. The Bell at Sealey Head by Patricia McKillip, one of her lovely lyrical fairy tales.
