Missing the point
Mark Lindenmeyer at Loyola calls the study which said Maryland colleges are too expensive (along with colleges everywhere but California) "suspect." He heads the college's financial aid office, and says that students can afford to come.
But the whole point of the story is that people cannot afford college unless they get help - meaning that it's not "suspect" - it's dead on. If colleges were affordable, Lindenmeyer's office wouldn't be (as) necessary.
