Another agency out of the darkness
McClatchy has a story out under the appropriate headline of After 8 years, a stunner: EPA nominee to put science first. A quote:
"If I am confirmed, I will administer with science as my guide," Jackson said. "I understand that the laws leave room for policymakers to make policy judgments. But if I am confirmed, political appointees will not compromise the integrity of EPA's technical experts to advance particular regulatory outcomes."As Barbara Boxer said, "I've been waiting for this day for a long, long time."

I just finished an article in the Jan8/09 Rolling Stone about Bush's "midnight regulations" that he's rushing through, and how many of them will lock in some of his worst anti-science, anti-environmental idiocies. I hope the new administration will still have room to manoeuver!
