A visitor

My first thought was that this is a Greater White-fronted Goose hanging out with the mallards at the little man-made lake here in Laurel. They don't really belong here, but they do occasionally show up on the East Coast in the winter. However, this is actually a feral Greylag. Oh, well! (But thanks, John and Mike!)

I suspect that is actually a domestic Greylag-type, based on the lack of white plumage at the base of the bill, and the size of the goose compared to the Mallard next to it.

It is indeed a hefty bird.
