category error
Well, sort of. Part of speech error, anyway.
Here's the "Sticklers" for today:
Match the word on the left with its meaning on the right. | |
1. grok | a. faithless |
2. esplanade | b. to understand profoundly |
3. impuissance | c. a level, open stretch of land |
4. perfidy | d. weakness |
5. ignominious | e. despicable |
Okay, I confess that I've never run into #3 before, but I have met it without its prefix, so it was easy to get (even if I hadn't known the others). But #4 is a noun, and a. is an adjective.
Not a match, Terry!
