Don't keep up with it daily

Joe Biden threw out the first ball for the Orioles (who are currently beating the Yankees, yay!), and they asked him if he still kept up with the sport. He admitted that no, he didn't, because he'd gotten into football.

For a moment there, I fantasized that he'd say, 'no, because it's crapped up. First the DH, then they messed with the strike zone ... tolerable, barely. But then playoffs, and more playoffs - and a wild card, and the 11th best team in either league could go to the Series with a bit of luck, and who wants to watch that? Sure, it hasn't happened yet, but what about '06? Division winner was St. Louis: 83-78, .516 - actual division winner at .516! Fifth in their league. They actually were the champions.

'And then interleague play. Bleah. Way to make the All-Star Game utterly inconsequential.'

So, yeah, I wished Joe would've said that.

And, yeah, I'm watching the opener. I didn't say I hated baseball, only that MLB is messed up...

I love the sport of baseball. I'm so frustrated with MLB, however, that I don't pay any attention to it. My son just announced the Orioles-Yankees score a few minutes ago and I shrugged. He said, "You don't really care about the Yankees anymore, do you?" I answered, I don't care about major league baseball anymore, period. They lost me in 1994.

While I'm righteously(?) angered that the '06 Yankees didn't play Mets in the Series, I would have been cheering for the Mets, because the Yankees are the forces of darkness...

LOL! When I was a kid, those would have been fightin' words. Now, I'm older and a tad wiser, and I find those words too close to true for comfort.
