Jesus picks the Cardinals
I truly am tired of religious athletes.
Angel McCoughtry said "I just have to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" for letting her win.
Of course, the entire Oklahoma team prayed on the court after the loss. ("We pray after every game," said Courtney Paris (though only after she was asked about the huddle).) I guess they weren't quite Christian enough for Angel's Jesus...
I cannot believe these people don't understand how arrogant that alleged humility really is.

Well, none of the Sooners were named "Angel." She had an advantage. :)
But - they had a "Grace"!
Thanks for posting a link to my Carnival of Maryland. Though we may have discussed this, I didn't remember that you're an atheist or "freethought" advocate. I clicked on one of your links which brought me to an atheist seminar video: http://friendlyatheist.com/2009/04/05/hitchens-versus-the-christians-video/#comment-294140
So I thought I'd come back here and repeat my reply to them, even though this comment is not about humility or sports, but about the idea of religion bringing hope and atheist not bringing hope (especially to the disabled - and we all have times when we're not well or deal with our mortality):
I was once asked to write a “religious” message for the disability community twice - one on coping and one on peace, so I chose the “agnostic” approach that I knew would not be addressed by other religious people, but the disabled and even “not as intelligent” can be atheists:
