PSA

Please, for the love of whatever you hold dear, stop letting spellchecker auto-correct.

Otherwise, you'll end up doing this:

WHO raised the pandemic flu alert to Phase Five yesterday, one step away from the highest level indicating a global outbreak.

WHO flu chief Keg Faked today said the UN agency saw nothing yet to prompt it to raise the pandemic alert farther.

When you mean this:

WHO flu chief Keiji Fukuda...

Thank you.

(interesting note: my spell checker doesn't like his name, either, but it offers me "Meiji Fukuoka" instead.)

At 2:39 PM, May 02, 2009 Blogger Barry Leiba had this to say...

Names are always fun in spelling checkers. When I used WordPerfect, years ago, it thought my name should be "Berry Labia", that a square-dance caller named Todd Fellegy should be "Toad Foliage", and that an Egyptian guy I knew called Medhat should be "Meathead".

But, yeah: people need to engage their wetware, as well as their software.
