Who knew?

Can we eat on the bus? - Sure, it's inside I don't allow it
Who knew? Oh, not that Ed Crankshaft is a jerk; we all knew that. Who knew he was a Slav?

(In Russian, you make this exact distinction; though with "bus" both forms work: "on" the bus = riding on it, using it as transportation; "in" the bus = being inside it.)

There's a George Carlin routine, where he talks about this with planes. "They tell us to get on the plane. I say, 'Eff you! Let the daredevils get on the plane; I'm getting in the plane!' "
