Clever
You know that Wal-Mart commercial? The one that says "People who spend $100 a week at leading groceries stores" very fast, and the adds slower and louder "could save $110 dollars" softer again "in two months" and back to loud "at Wal-Mart!!!" with a huge $110 written up on the screen next to the smiling lady? It's a clever commercial. It works out to a little more than $14 a week saved, which isn't nearly as enticing.
"Think of the gifts you could buy" says the voice over, but hardly anybody would actually do anything with $14 a week except find another way to spend it.
And, of course, you're still shopping at Wal-Mart. (And if you have to shop there, that $14 is absolutely going to something besides gifts - like gas, or rent, or a little more food and clothes.)
