WTF, Cantu & Castellanos???

Would someone like to tell me why skinny-as-a-rail Papi is dieting in Baldo? Okay, cheating on his diet, but still: "I started a new diet yesterday," he says, and Gracie responds, "That's great, Papi." Great? What messed up body-image message are they trying to send? Or, if it's supposed to be for diabetes or cholesterol or something, how is it funny that he's not sticking to it?

Sheesh.

Update. Ah - it is diabetes. So now what? Papi ignores his condition, gets worse, and dies because he has crap health care? Is this turning into Funky Winkerbean? Or are they just going to play it for laughs all week? Whatever, the above comic is still reprehensible.
