You never can tell

Real life doesn't always follow the cliches you expect.

For instance, today as I came in from work there was a woman having a conversation on her cellphone in the parking lot. I walked past her and heard her say, "I tell you what -". A promising beginning, yes? "- I'm not going to be happy until -"

That could go lots of places.

"- you tell me where your wife is -" Okay. Maybe literally, where is she? Maybe all kinds of relationship stuff.

"- in relation to -" Hmmm. Cheating.

"- your personal ministry."

Say what? That is so absolutely not what I was expecting.

And then she was silent, and I came inside. But you never can tell, and you shouldn't leap to conclusions. (But I still wonder where she is on the subject...)
