Cardinals
In England it's the robin; in Russia, the bullfinch. Here it's the cardinal.
Even clad in wintry gray, he does indeed "fire up the landscape / as nothing else can do...

Very nice! I keep trying to get pictures of the cardinals in my area, but the little rats fly off the first moment that I think of getting the camera...
I confess: these were shot through windows. If I go outside, it's much harder to get a good picture, though I did get a nice one of a pair in a bare bush. What I canNOT do is get a decent chickadee!
