Some "rules" just won't die
Rex Parker (of Rex Parker Does the NY Times Crossword) says of today's puzzle:
I did not care for NORW. (42D: Neighbor of Swed.) — both clue and answer abbrevs. look ridiculously with that fourth letter on them — or ON TWO (145A: How a call may be picked up at the office), mainly because I don't really get it. "Look ridiculously"?
No.
They look ridiculous.
Verbs of perception and sensing are like linking verbs; they take adjectives as their complements, because that adjective is modifying the subject.
