Vacation

I am sitting in my father's kitchen watching the sun lift over the trees (Tennessee straddles the line between Eastern and Central and he lives so close to it that dawn is nearly an hour later than in Laurel). Coffee is brewing, cardinals are calling, and one persistent song sparrow is hiding in the Japanese maple and at the same time singing his head off. I feel relaxed already and I haven't been here for 12 hours yet.

Tomorrow we're going to the restaurant on the river for dinner and then the fireworks - it's a perfect spot to watch them.

The vacation is kicking in.
