If Edmund Spenser read Comics Curmudgeon

Yesterday's Family Circus was a simple two-panel shot of Jeffy building a sand castle, and then crying when the ocean knocked it down. Over at The Comics Curmudgeon the commenter knonw as Sister Sestina created this brilliant piece of work which I share with you.

If Edmund Spenser read Comics Curmudgeon:

One day Jeff built a castle on the strand,
But came the waves and washèd it away:
Again he built it from the selfsame sand,
But came the tide and made Jeff’s pains his prey.
Vain tot (said Josh) that dost in vain assay
To build a lasting castle to the skies;
A comic’s panel lasteth but a day
And eke your image shall be gone likewise.
Not so (quod Jeff); let baser things devise
To die in dust, but I am not the same;
Let Keane redraw a little and resize,
And (like the Circle in my comic’s name)
I come around again to reader’s view:
And I shall live, and syndicate renew.
