Quran burning
This comment was left on my post "Still".
Hello dear friend…It is utter spam, and has been deleted per my policy. (It wouldn't have been hard to find a post that it might have been tangentially relevant to, but instead the spammer just grabbed the post at the top of the page.)
I send you a message, to think about this for a minute…
Thank you !!!!
Liberal democracy is the utmost of aim of species that the U.S claims to have and claims that it has a wholly liberal democratic government. Does the end of the world and history conclude in the U.S? Is everything entirely for the U.S and what kind of Liberal democracy is this that doesn’t even allow anyone to reopen and research about the Holocaust case?! And according to this case and religious lie, every year hundreds of Muslims are sentenced to death. But this so-called liberal government allows any kind of insult to the holy book of Quran. And under the names of liberalism and freedom of speech, and with the aid of its police, offends more than one billion Muslims around the world.
The insult to the holy book of Quran and violating the law of respecting other’s beliefs and rights which was carried out by the same people who claim to have created this law, brought a great grief and sorrow to the liberals of the world. Isn’t this the same government that argues for omanism and all its moral and cultural theories are base on the human being?! So with this claim what happens to the freedom of right of more than one billion Muslims around the world and respecting their beliefs and religion?! Don’t these Muslims have the right to live?!
This is the Book(the Quran), about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah
I haven't said much about that loon in Florida and his book-burning, but this comment provokes me to say a few things.
First, "my dear friend", nobody I know claims the US is "a wholly liberal democratic government".
Second, the US doesn't give a rap if you research the Holocaust - you have us confused with Germany - and I defy you to produce one single Muslim who has been sentenced to death in this country because of "this religious lie". Holocaust denial is a despicable rewriting of history, but it's not illegal.
Third, it's a fucking book. It can't be insulted. This sort of raving is exactly why people want to burn it.
Fourth, who was it destroyed Buddhist religious icons in Afghanistan? Don't Buddhists have any rights?
Fifth, it's your book, about which you have no doubts, but there are nearly six billion people in the world. More people disbelieve in any given religion than believe in it, so throwing numbers around is pointless.
Sixth, no one has the right to be taken seriously, not to be laughed at. You have the right to your beliefs, but not the right to force others to behave as if they shared those beliefs - and that's true of every religion, including the nutjob Christians in this country. You do not have the right to never have your feelings hurt - because that means other people's will be.
Finally, on my own now: The world would be a lot better off if every Bible and Quran were burned, but that doesn't mean I think anybody carrying out their right to do so has the brains God gave a goose, if you'll pardon the figure of speech. People have a perfect right to do a lot of things that are bone stupid. But disproportionate result - claiming that some books being burnt by a religious loon in Florida is somehow challenging the right of "one billion Muslims to live" - is, frankly, loonier than anything that nut is doing.
Possibly the most serious dilemma facing this country (and others) is: how do you tolerate those who hate you; how do you live with those who want to kill you?
Religious fervor is scary. Shooting doctors, blowing up buses, setting fire to temples or churches - it's all fucking insane. Gods who are omnipotent get insulted by people and yet are too weak to do their own smiting, so some other people have to do it for them. Nobody does their cause any good at all by being so frankly crazy.
Everybody needs to calm down. It's a book. There are hundreds of millions of copies in the world. Burning one does nothing to the others. Yes, it's a deliberately provocative insult, but a deadly one? The man's a lunatic, and your response is totally what he wants - that and the spectacle of everybody in the country, from the president down, treating him like he's some kind of serious political or religious thinker. He deserves to be ignored. You deserve to be laughed at - until you start killing in response to him. Then you deserve contempt.
Seriously. Calm down. Get your facts straight.
And everybody. We have the world, and each other, and that's all we know.
Seriously. Can't we all just get along?
