It could be worse
How's that for a stirring sentiment?
But it's true. Here in Maryland we stayed Chesapeake Blue - Bob Ehrlich failed miserably to scare people into voting for him, and Mikulski and Hoyer and others won. Out of state, most of the people I gave money to won - Dennis, of course, and Barney Frank and others. Not all of them. We didn't get Angle or O'Connell, but we lost Feingold, a heavy loss.
So yeah. It could be worse.
We lost the House - but a lot of those we lost were those damned Blue Dogs who fought and dragged their feet. I don't know but what I wouldn't rather have Republicans than Democrats who vote like Republicans - here in Maryland, Frank Kratovil campaigned on voting against the health care bill... and lost. And we lost the veto-proof Senate but c'mon: what did they do with it? (And at least nobody has to suck up to Lieberman.)
It could be worse.
But dammit. It could have been so much better. And it's not all the economy this time. Not all of it.
So we'll have to see what happens now.
