Impressive!

Wow. I am definitely impressed with Inspector Lestrade in Sherlock Holmes and the Secret Weapon. Holmes called him on the phone and told him to trace a call made on his private line two nights before.

And Lestrade did it in 30 seconds.

Pretty damn good for 1943.

Lestrade must have asked a conscientious operator who called Mr Holmes a couple of nights ago, since I can't think of how there would be telephone records in those days, other than manually-written ones.

Hee hee - your comment makes me realize the only way he could have done it, particularly so quickly: the Yard is monitoring Holmes's phone! (Of course, Holmes must have known that.)
