A rout
My annual birthday present-pilgrimage to Thompson-Boling Arena to watch the Lady Vols play some SEC basketball was ... well, a mix of emotions. It was great to watch them stomp the Crimson Tide (when I went to UT, back in the Dark Ages, Alabama was the enemy. That hasn't been the case in a while, but you always remember things as they were, don't you?), but on the other hand, it wasn't a pretty game.
The starters racked up 60 points. The second string six got 50, playing the second half (nobody got more than 22 minutes. Nobody.). Alabama got... 45. Yeah. 110-45.
It got kind of rough in the second half, with three of Bama's players fouling out, and some pretty hard hits being delivered, one of which took Shekinna Stricklen out (though they said on the post-game show she'll be back next game). But the bulk of the second half was all Tennessee's bench, and they scored enough to win the game just in their half.
So... it was fun. But wasn't pretty. Still, I'll take an ugly win over a pretty loss any day!
