Happy Birthday, Janet

This is the last photo we have of my mother before the first of the strokes that killed her. It's from her birthday in 2001 - ten years ago today.

I still miss her.

My condolences to you, your father and sister (right?), and the rest of your mother's family and friends.

Thanks, Kathie. There are five of us "kids" - I've got two sisters and two brothers.

Did you learn some of your interests from her? My mother loved good mysteries, and enjoyed the ones that were dramatized in Britain -- e.g., Dorothy L. Sayers, P.D. James, Jeremy Brett as Holmes -- then later shown on PBS.

She also liked Rumpole and Inspector Morse; don't know whether she'd have liked Robbie Lewis as a lead as much as we do, though :-)

Both my parents were (my father still is) very fond of Masterpiece mysteries. I think she'd have liked Robbie just fine, too ;-) They both read a lot, and were very progressive in their politics. I learned a lot from her.
