One Last Poster

One last poster before the election tomorrow. I jokingly said yesterday that I expect Prokhorov to split the Putin vote and let Zyuganov win... Actually, I expect Putin to manage to clear the 50% hurdle and win without a second round. In fact I'll be quite stunned if that doesn't happen. But, anyway, this particular poster is from the Duma elections back in December - in those, of course, UR came away with an absolute majority (though they lost their 2/3 constitutional majority). It's the same four parties putting up the same four guys - well, the other half of the tandem - but Prokhorov is a bit of spoiler. The question is, whose vote will he spoil? Seriously, I think he'll take votes mostly from A Just Russia, and I figure the Kremlin must agree, else they'd have found some reason to disqualify him (like they did with Yavlinsky, Mironov (Boris, not Sergey), Limonov, and the rest). Ah, well... Anyway, here's the poster: the United Russia bear wearing a thief's mask and dragging its loot out of Russia into Europe, all on a red (instead of UR's blue) background. The caption reads Единая Россия - партия воров и жуликов, United Russia - the party of crooks and thieves (in the immortal words of activist Alexey Navalny, an English translation of whose blog is here).

My ex-wife is probably going to vote for Putin. Let's see how he does. I'm pretty sure he's going to win in the first round itself, as well, but it's going to be because the alternatives aren't too appetising.
