Do people really consider rainbow trout to be "seafood"?

Yes. Whether fish comes from an ocean, a sea, a lake, a river, or a stream, it's "seafood".

See, for me that's not true. And for Merriam-Webster (marine fish and shellfish used as food or of kinds suitable for food), too...

But obviously not everyone agrees! I mean, it wouldn't have been a Jeopardy clue if nobody thought so.

I'd call it seafood, if only because it's the easiest way to identify a single class of food I don't like. Catfish, trout, lobster, clams, crabs. I hate them all and they all taste the same to me. It was hard to grow up in Baltimore hating crabs, but I did it.

Love Old Bay, though.

No, it's not seafood for me (BrE). It's Fish. Seafood and Fish overlap, but for me they ain't identical.

And tonight Alex pronounced the first word in Brazil's motto "Ordem e Progresso" as "or-DAYM" -- when it's more like "OR-deng." Why can't he be briefed, or given a phonetic spelling on his clue card the way, e.g., that the AP does for names etc. on its copy? Grrr...

I do not know, Kathie. He butchers Russian, too - and so I have no confidence in languages I don't know.
