Today's Lola starts with these two panels:
Q- How did your surgery go? A- Well, apparently ... The surgeon left his Rolex inside meFor me, that just doesn't work. I read the first panel as a complete Q-and-A: "How did your surgery go?" "Well, apparently." Panel two sounds the reason it went apparently well, and it took me forever to figure out how the surgeon leaving his phone, watch, and ring inside the guy could possibly have been described as "going well".

It's not forever yet, but I still haven't figured it out. Clue, please?

It's supposed to be read as "Well, apparently the doctor left ..." that is "Well, it seems the doctor left..."

The words aren't so bad, but combined with the panel presentation they totally undermine the joke.
