The Week in Entertainment
DVD: The first two series of Blue Murder, a genuinely wonderful ITV cop series set in Manchester. All the characters are well-drawn and acted, and the mysteries are good - gritty, not graphic, and puzzling. Good stuff so far.
Read: Redshirts - John Scalzi's latest, and brilliant. Funny and serious, an examination of some important questions about the nature of reality wrapped up in a hugely funny satire on Star Trek and its cousins. Absolutely recommended, no hesitation. Breaking News, a memoir of war reporting by Martin Fletcher, a very good read. Three cute mysteries, a series - Kate McCall, Private Eye; One Little Lie; Road Trip - slightly goofy protagonist surrounded by goofier supporting characters.
