NOW it's bad
Tony Perkins has suddenly discovered that (to quote Dmitry Medvedev) "calls for violent actions are often followed by violent actions." That is, now that somebody took a shot at the FRC, instead of an abortion doctor or Democratic congresswoman or Muslim, he's blaming the "reckless labeling" of his group by the SPLC. Now heated rhetoric gives people "a license to shoot"...
Also, this?
Tony Perkins: “I’m not a big supporter of the hate crimes statute. What I believe is that if you commit an act of violence, it is a crime. I don’t care why you do it, you did it. When you talk about acts of domestic terrorism, terrorism is to intimidate and marginalize and silence a portion of the population. I think this could very well fit in that category.”So, basically, he doesn't know what hate crimes are? Because what makes it a hate crime is that it's motivated by a desire to intimidate a portion of the population. You know, like women. Or gays. Or blacks. Or even homophobes or Republicans.

Any word yet on FRC's official position on the Pussy Riot trial and prison sentences?
I doubt they have one - it's not "traditional marriage"-related, after all. And I'm not sure they think Orthodox Christians are real Christians, either. But I expect they think it wasn't a harsh enough sentence.
