The Week in Entertainment

Live: Iolanta, a lovely one-act opera that desperately needs a partner so, like Cav and Pag, it can be performed. But Bluebeard's Castle won't be that partner. Hardly anyone I heard talking afterward liked it ... me included. (Plus, why when he says he had three wives before Judith would they put five women on the stage?) A very funny You Can't Take It With You, with a great cast headed by James Earl Jones.

TV: Yay! Last Week with John Oliver is back! This week's Mentalist was clearly foreshadowing change (and the end of the series), nicely done. The Middle - yikes! What now? Grimm: Wu brings his own special touch to things.Modern Family - a funny Valentine's Day episode.

Read: Two collections by Neil Gaiman - Fragile Things and Trigger Warnings. An anthology called Noisy Outlaws, Unfriendly Blobs, and Some Other Things That Aren't as Scary, Maybe, Depending on How You Feel About Lost Lands, Stray Cellphones, Creatures from the Sky, Parents Who Disappear in Peru, a Man Named Lars Farf, and One Other Story We Couldn't Quite Finish, So Maybe You Could Help Us Out, which had some good stories in it (Gaiman recommended it). Started Anne Tyler's new one, A Spool of Blue Thread.
