Boy, was I wrong

I just, while looking for something else, came across this post from 2008, in a comment to which I asserted that "either Obama or Clinton will get us out significantly faster than McCain, who won't get us out at all."

"Out" of course referring to the Middle East / Iraq war.

Hoo boy.

But... but... but... Just imagine if President McCain had died in office. Now either Obama or Clinton suddenly looks a whole lot better than THAT alternative.

I'm not saying McCain was a better choice. I'm just admitting that Obama has not gotten us out of that mess. I was mistaken about that. And Hillary Clinton would have dug us deeper.

Still it's possible McCain would have mired us even worse, so maybe I was sort of right.

That McCain might've mired us worse was only half of the point. The other half was, what if in the midst of all that he'd been unable to complete his term? How would his designated successor have handled it? Could it have led to her impeachment, or worse? The mind boggles, and figures that Obama hasn't been as bad as the Republican alternative(s).

Oh, well, yes. I wasn't trying to imply that I thought Obama and/or Clinton was/would have been worse than the other side. I merely meant that I was wrong on thinking that 'getting us out of there' would be one of the places they differed.
