Farewell, Dmitri

Dmitri Hvorostovsky has died, of brain cancer, at 55.  Here is his New York Times obituary. I had the privilege of seeing him perform at the Met several times, in Un Ballo in Maschera, Rigoletto, and Il Trovatore. He was a fine performer and a very gifted singer. He is gone too young.
