A color not found in nature - not
Some people - maybe most - call these guys Baltimore Orioles (especially in Maryland, I'll bet). Some call them Northern Orioles. Whatever you call them, they're brilliant orange and have a lovely song. Last year I caught a couple of glimpses of a male - maybe this same one. Yesterday I saw him flying around, and then I caught my first (ever) sight of a female oriole. Last fall I saw their nest, long after they'd moved out. Perhaps they're getting ready to settle in again.

<-- Older Post ^ Home Newer Post -->I'll bet a person (one with far too much time on his/her hands) might be able to tell how long a birder has been birding by what they call certain 'key' species. Not to mention if they go birding or bird-watching, too.
You're probably right, though you might only be able to tell how old they are. I grew up saying Baltimore and bird watching, but I say birding now because I've only been doing it a few years and that's what those I know who do it call it.
